Gas Mileage & Driving Habits
Here in PHX it is estimated that gas prices will go above $3.00 by this weekend. If you are in the same situation and your Tahoe or Yukon is your daily driver - would this change your driving habits? I for one will leave early for work and appointments so not to have to make up time by driving faster. Being Fall - I'll not have the A/C on until late next Spring. Any others?

We are already over $3.00 in Northern Arizona. I could drive the Tahoe as a daily driver. But I alternate between the Hoe and our 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. Actually I've already been doing this since I got the hoe. Saving mileage.

Ive already changed my habits...my tahoe seems to burn a little more gas then what ive been hearing. (12 mpg on average, thats calculated from gallons of gased used and my mileage which is 18400). I always use speed control when im cruising for a little while. Id say im usually pretty agressive, but i find myself driving like an old lady now adays.

I average 17.6 mpg on every tank in my Silverado. I speed up to the speed limit, not really fast, but fast enough. Then, I use cruise control everywhere.

I recommend staying moving as much as possible, I changed my route to work from less traffic but many stops (11.8mpg) to more traffic but fewer stops and a little cruising 20% of travel (14-15mpg).

It has changed my habits and I have changed my tuner back to 87 octane.
I bought a little compact about 2 years ago, right after Katrina. Bought the car ('91 Toyota) for $500, $200 for inspection, registration, tags, taxes. $15/month in insurance. Eventually it will pay off, if the car is reliable. Mine was very reliable and averaged 34 mpg. The biggest issue I had was that I was driving a POS everyday and still paying nearly $600/month for my Tahoe to sit in the garage. For me, I will change my driving habits, and continue to drive my nice vehicle.

Saw $2.96 in KC, MO area today for unleaded regular. Get about 12-13 in town and 16-17 hwy. If I stay around 60-65, can get about 18-19.

Getting 12-13 in the city now after finally breaking it in by taking a 500 mile road trip with 2200 miles on the Tahoe...seems like the biggest boost in mileage has been not using the AC...thank goodness it is finally getting cool out (still in 80's here in Houston) and I only drive ~8 miles round trip everyday to and from work....
