Question GM Customer Appreciation Certificate

How do I get one of these? I guess they will knock $500 off the cost of your chevy car if you have one.

I'm going to guess it involves spending lots of money with them weather it be through multiple vehicle purchases or normal maintenance visits to the service center....

Chevrolet probably gives these out for more than one reason, but I received one years ago after going 'round and round with GM due to the second to third gear clunk. In the early years, Chevrolet refused to acknowledge just how bad or common it was, and after a couple of band-aid repairs, refused any ownership of the problem.

Chevrolet sent me a $2,0000 Customer Appreciation Certificate to absolve them of any further dealings with me. Of course, it was the easy way out for Chevrolet; repairing or replacing the transmission properly would have cost them a few thousand bucks. Sending me the certificate meant nothing to me, as the cost of trading in a 6 month old Suburban would have cost me two to three times that amount, so I was stuck with the bad transmission and it cost Chevrolet nothing. And just to show how meaningless the certificate was meant to be, it expired 12 months from the time it was issued. I couldn't even use it at a later date for a future purchase, and at least feel that I got something out of the deal.

Yeah, seven and a half years later, I haven't forgotten how Chevrolet Customer Assistance treats it's customers...

All these "me too" posts are from people with 1 post...

Curious...

I know if you are a supplier to GM you can get a discount, if you go through certain Credit Unions you can get a discount, if you or a family member work for GM or for the military...
Here is a place to start, GM Current Offers and Incentives | General Motors
Chevrolet Customer Service may be able to chime in on more details...

My company got a supplier discount w/ GM, Ford, and Chrysler. In the process of changing my order for the 2010, I got hooked up w/ a top manager in the Tahoe section who sent me a employee discount.
