Hello all, I am thinking up getting a 2007 LTZ or Z71. I will be upgrading from a Ford Explorer. The question I have is how tall is the LTZ or Z71 with 20 inch rims including roof rack and all. I am afraid that it will not fit in the garage. That is a must for me. I would hate to get it home and it not fit. Thanks.

 

I had the same fear before I bought my LTZ, but it fits into my garage without a problem. My garage has an 80 inch opening. I dont think the 20 inch wheels affect the ride height due to the lower profile tires, but I could be wrong. I have been next to Tahoes without the 20 inch wheels and the height seemed to be the same.

 

I have an 07 LT3 with 22's and its just under 6'6".

I was worried about the tahoe fitting in my garage (height and width,we have a small2 car garage)so I asked the dealership if I could take one home to see how it fit. They let me.

 

Its a must for me as well. Mine barely fits (2WD LTZ with 20's). I only have a 77.5" of clearance (Due to Door being a hurricane door). My is 2WD so I am sure the 4WD's are a little higher.

Damn I knew mine was tight, but that is cutting it real close for mine.

 

I saw those same measurements you posted, but I was wanting real life info... you never really know if those heights are accurate.

Bare in mind that my clearence takes in to account the 6" or so beams that reinforce my garage door across the entire length off my door. Most folks here will have a little more clearance than me (Assuming they have the same size opening) because they dont have the hurricane doors with the beams that are required where I live. You asked a great question - One that I should off before I purchased, but lucked out anyway. Good luck - I hope you get one, I love mine.
