I put after market tires and wheels on my 07 Tahoe, (the same size as what came off of it 265/70/R17)olny
difference is the wheels are chrome, and it is messing up the 4/8 cylinder mode. It only goes into 4 cyl for a few
seconds and than back into 8 cyl mode.Any ideas.........................

What's the weight difference between the old wheels/tires versus the new ones? If the new ones weigh considerably more, that's a lot of un-sprung weight that the engine now has to move. That means it may be needing to use all 8 cylinders now to push the weight of the new wheels.

I have aftermarket wheels too, and most likely much heavier than the stockers. But mine is also only for a few seconds when it switches, and only stays on for awhile when im going down hill.

Try driving around town in tow mode. I get much better gas mileage with a light foot and tow mode. It will cruise around town in V4 most of the time. In tow mode it hangs on to the gear longer and raises the RPM's but will go into V4 more often.
