That damn mirror button turns off the temp/compass but has no affect on the dimmingmirrors. What kind of a racket are you runnin here?

I agree, it only turns the temp/compass on or off, not the auto dimming.

I don't know about yours or exactly what you are doing but in mine, 2007 lt3, you must push and hold the power button, far left button on the rearview mirror. The temp/compass will flash, turn off, etc. but when the green oval light on the mirror goes out release the power button, the dimming is off and the temp/compass is still displayed.
