Default How do I tell if auto-ride self-leveling is working?

When I load up my 2008 Suburban LTZ and start the vehicle, the rear does not rise to the unloaded height. Should it? The instructions in the Owner's Manual suggest that it should.

Is there a definitive way to determine if the self-leveling function is working properly?

Thanks!

Mike

From my experience, after start the engine, the compressor should start too, and level out your ride. Mine does it, even I hook up a heavy trailer, start the engine and levels out.
In my opinion, if your burb not overloaded, it should level out. If it does not seem to level out, probably it's not working.

Of course one may have a Ball Hitch, which rises or drops a little or a lot,
but, I would be very interested in hearing at what height the center
of the receiver was, when your vehicle recovered it's intended height.

Welcome to the forum.

From what you describe, I'd say yours isn't working.

If the load leveling is NOT working, can the fix be accomplished w/out taking to the dealer?

Welcome to the forum,

Depends on how handi-capable you are and what the defective item(s) are...
but shocks and compressor are DIY items..

The dealer can sell them to you, GM Parts Direct can, Google is your friend... however you should do some troubleshooting so as not to replace items that are not broke..

145000 miles, and the compressor was squeeling for the past few months. Now it has just stopped working. Not sure how to go about trouble shooting. Just figured the shocks where gone do to high mileage and same for the comp.
