From what I've heard, the tongue weight should be about 10% of the load weight. Sounds like you're in the ballpark.

Won't you need a brake controller to handle the brakes?

Yes, u would need a brake controller to activate electric trailer brakes...

Great link...but my 2009 Suburban isn't in the database - how can that be. My 08 Avalanche shows up.
