HVAC issues 04 Suburban

Hi All. My 04 Suburban with a climate control system is giving me fits. I've tried a couple of Dorman new digital and OEM original reman (in the car now). The system at times blows hot air because its not activating the compressor.
Dorman says the climate control module does not talk to the compressor, but rather communicates with the ECM and the ECM in turn activates the compressor. If thats the case, then would the ECM log the command from the hvac module if the compressor didn't activate? Or alternatively, if there is no ECM code, then there was no command from the climate control module. Everything else in the truck is fine. If it is a problem in the ECM can that be corrected or do I need to replace the ECM with a reman? Thanks
