Would be cool if someone would shed some light on this for my sake as well. As I have always wondered what engine will fit on what transmission. Do all chevy engines and tranny's match up together just fine or are there different tranny's for different engines? Im very lost when it comes to this.[&:]

The internet is a wonderful thing...
http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/4l60e.htm
http://www.hotrodders.com/articles/TH-700R4_basics.html
EDIT
if I read the hotrodders link correctly it sounds like there is a boltpattern difference between the standard 350 and the Vortecs....but I'lllet ya'll decide

hmmm the article does help but at the same time it states in the beginning "The 700 came in two bellhousing bolt patterns the standard "Chevy" which includes all smallblock engines from 262 to 400 cubic engines (and the later "Vortec" series engines and their derivatives)" <<that tells me it can but then its telling me in the article that it wasnt about to take the big blocks....
