Question I need advice

Hi
I am about to buy a 2008 Tahoe.
The owner says it has a 5 gear transmission but I can see that the 2010 models have 6 gears
Well.. could you tell me if this just disqualifies this Tahoe?
Or is it ok? I have no clue on this matter. And no tech skills either

Thank you.

so from what I read on the forum, there is no 5 gear trans but 4 gear. Right?
and the main difference is mpg.
Anything else I should know?

no such thing. 4 speed 4l65 or 70e i believe. trans is junk. it's basically what stopped me from buying one until now.. Have a trailblazer SS with that trans and it can't deal with a truck 1000lbs lighter you know it can't deal with this thing. hold off another 6mos to a year n get the 6spd truck

Where I live there are only a few cars of this type so finding this one is really a wonder!
It does not come cheap and owning it could prove to be an adventure since there are no dealers and service shops for US SUV's here. But since I fell in love with it I really want to buy it. So I could not wait for a newer one since here are not any .
But before I make this purchase I need to know from you all if the 4 gear one is crap or not! And any else advice would be highly apreciated. Like what should I look for before buying it?

Thx

Revilo: Welcome to the forum. I haven't heard as many problems w/ the 4 speed tranny now in the NBS Tahoes but there weren't any 5 speed trannies. You do get a five year/100K mi powertrain warranty w/ the truck plus you can get an extended GMPP warranty if the truck is still covered by the original warranty.

More questions:
Can I install bluetooth on a 2008 model?
Europe maps are available on dvd??
Are the temperature settings changeable to metric units?
Thx

Default Tahoe's

2008: 4 speed automatic
2009: 6 speed auto from the caddy (MUCH IMPROVED).

2008: No Blue Tooth
2009: Yes Blue Tooth

I do not know about the maps.

Yes you can change to metric.

You want a 09. (or 2010)

Could any of you see if your Nav has only the US maps or maybe Europe?
