how could i find out if my trany can pull 24" i have the lt moldel and the 5.3 motor.if i need a trany what trany would be good.

Hello. By 24", did you mean 24'(foot)? If so, what kind of weight? Your tranny should be fine if the weight of the trailer is within standard capacity of your truck. I would DEFINITLY get a tranny cooler if you do not currently have one. GM makes them for your Tahoe. Many other after market coolers are good as well and all are very easy to install.Hope this helps.
BTW, I towed my 20' bass boat for almost 100,000 miles without a cooler, but I had one installed when I rebuilt the tranny. I have 120,000 on my 2000 Tahoe Limited and she's faster now then when I got it.
