So My key broke, i took it to the locksmith and he told me its a circle + or something. Went to the dealer and they called GM used my vin to get a new key, made that key. it cost me 82$ for a new key.
I took the new key home, and it works in my door, but wont move at all.
i know i have to reset the code on it by timing out the theft security about 3 times.. Called the dealer back and they said i probly will have to put a new ignition in
Any suggestions from any1 on some alternate methods before i have to try and get my car towed and spend a lot of money...

I take it that you don't have the second key that came w/ the truck. If the ignition worked w/ the old key, then the dealer screwed up the new key.

 

No i dont have a second key, You think that i should try to have them cut another key for me?

 

If the key doesn't turn the ignition lock cylinder, try flipping it 180. Believe it or not, it takes care to cut the key right. Sometimes one side of the blade ends up a tad off in which case they'll have to cut you a new key.

 

yeah i tried that... my old key looks really worn down compared to the new one..

 

2007 and worn that much already? You must have a really heavy key chain or something. The tumblers inside the lock cylinder must have had it, then. It's a new lock cylinder time.

 

Maybe you could try "wearing" the new one down to match the old one.
