Key won't turn

Key won't turn
New with a Tahoe in 2001. Drove it home from the dealer yesterday, no problem.
When I was going to drive away this morning, I had a problem with not being able to open with the remote control. Tried the reserve, did not help, changed the battery, did not help.
I also could not turn the key in the ignition switch, also tried the spare key.
I can hold for at least 2-3 minutes and turn the key back and forth.
Starter battery fully charged.
If I change the battery in the remote control, is there something that needs to be programmed?
