L460E Question

L460E Question
I put an inexpensive rebuilt L460e into my 99 Suburban about 5000 miles ago. The trans seems to shudder while cruising along at 35-45 in overdrive. There are no codes set. In overdrive it is only turning about 11-1200 rpms. If I shift down to 3rd and keep the rpms above 1500, no more shudder. Questions, is this damaging the trans? Is there any adjustment that can be made? Any help is appreciated....

The "shudder" is the T/C being very "tight" and efficient......and it is happening when the T/C goes into "lockup".
IMO, the line pressure might be a tad too high, which is very common with many tranny rebuilders who might not have a machine to calibrate them on.
I wouldn't worry too much about this. With more miles on it, the shudder will go away.

No warranty. I don't really know if it is the torque converter locking and unlocking. The rpms are steady even when it shudders.
My thought was the pressure was too low at low rpms. it does lock up in 3rd and drive, with the rpms up at 1500 it doesn't shudder at all.

did you use dexron fluid or some other a dexron equivalent brand? I had a similar issue with my dodge ram that I had bought used. I exchanged the fluid to the proper oem fluid and dodge had a ecm reprogram update available to change tcc apply. the fluid change alone worked so well I never went to get the new programming.

it worth a try...but not guaranteed to fix it. I think my dodge was fussy if non factory fluid was in there.
I disconnected one of the trans cooler lines and ran 18L of fluid through the trans...running until 3L pumped out, then refilling and repeating.
