Talking Leaf springs?? 99 4dr

Hey everyone I am new to the forums and too owning a tahoe. I picked up a 99 with about 104k miles one owner. Very clean truck, I have been doing little things here and there such as shocks, new bluetooth stereo, some wheels. One thing I noticed is when I go over a speed bump and both rear wheels hit squarely and at the same time the rear end comes down pretty hard almost bottoms out. Or if I hit a high spot or dip on the freeway the rear end comes down pretty far. I was thinking leaf springs? I mean they are 15 years old, and I found some replacements on JC Whitney? Anyone have any input on this condition? Thanks much

Sounds strange to me to have the leaf springs go bad. I had a 99 Silverado with 175,000 miles and the rear leaf springs were perfect on it. I guess it depends on how the truck was driven and treated. Sounds more like a shock issue. Are you sure the correct shocks were installed?

What were you driving before you got this Tahoe? What size tires are on it, and does the size start with a P or an LT?

I used kyb gas a just shocks all the way around and it seemed to help a lot. I know the primary symptom of bad leaf springs is the "sag" so I know they do wear out but I was thinking about getting someone to check the shocks that were installed too. The truck has 31's on it, and they are Michelin LT's. I had a 2011 Chrysler 300 prior to this. Thanks for the input...anything else would be appreciated.

Hmmmmmm. If your shocks are adjustable, I would see about setting them a little stiffer.
