Default Leak in REAR Passenger side floor by kicker plate

Hello all,

This problem has been ******* us this winter. When the '96 4 door Tahoe is parked and it rains the REAR passenger carpet gets soaked. I don't think it is the heater core, or the A/C, or the fresh air intake, or the wiper cowl drain because the FRONT passenger floor area remains dry. It does not have a rear a/c unit. There is no evidence of a leak from the rear door or window. The seat remains dry, it seems to be coming from somewhere else. The headboard above it remains dry too. The carpet on the rear wheel well does get wet a few inches above the low point by the kicker plate. It is driving me nuts, anyone have any other suggestions? We checked the mounting points on the roof rack and they seem the same on both sides, the rear driver side stays dry. We are new here so any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks much,
K

Welcome to the forum.

If you have a sunroof, check to make sure the gutter drains are clear.

Default We don't have a sunroof, thanks!

Is there anyway it can leak from the wheel well? It gets wet while parked, not from driving.

How would water get in the wheel well sitting still?

Default Leak in Tahoe Wheel well

Hi,

I had the same problem. I pulled off the side panel directly behind the door. Behind the seatbelts there is a hollow space which had filled up with extremely fine dirt. Over the years, a slow leak had been piling this material up.

I'd recommend pulling off that side panel (it's not that hard) and checking that area.
