Look at the option code decal in the glove box, if you see the code "G80" then it is an Eaton Locking Rear End otherwise it is not.

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible that the rear diff for 03 came stock on some Tahoes? This number is not on the sticker and the vin # does not show it having limitted slip. However, I can easily spin both rear tires on soft dirt. I also wet down the tires and was able to get both tires to spin in my driveway. I'm selling the Tahoe and the buyer is interested but wants to be sure it has a locking rear differential. It's not helping me any that there is no record whatsoever that it has a limmited slip diff.

Thanks for your help
Scott

Scott,
it does not have a Locker if code G80 is not there unless by some miracle one found its way into your Tahoe, but it doesn't sound that way.

A normal open differential will spin both tires 90% of the time in soft dirt, but when one tire gets good traction and the other is on ice or if both tires or on ice (or a mossy boat ramp) that's were the locking diff works well.
