Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Load Helper Springs???

I've tried several searches and surprised that I can't find any threads on adding "helper springs" to Tahoes, Suburbans or even Silverados.

I've got a '95 Tahoe 4WD that I use to pull my car trailer. It pulls it just fine, with the exception of dragging its tail a little more than I'm comfortable with.

Any recommendations from those of you with experience in this type of issue?

Thanks!

I have only heard of adding airbags, maybe that is the same thing you are talking about? do you use a weight distribution hitch also?

Surely there's something out there w/ a coil-over shock.

Thanks All,

I Googled it after posting this and stopped by a local truck outfitter. I'll be adding the helper springs soon. My car trailer repairs should be done by next week. I got sideswiped by a big tow truck.

I will also look into a weight distribution hitch while I'm at it.

You can see how it rides in this picture. I had some engine parts and a tranny in the back, but the car is fairly light (2050 lbs).

Yeah, I'm a Mopar guy that has Chevy SUVs... You just can't argue the quality of the Chevy trucks & SUVs. We're on our third Suburban, first Tahoe and I had an '88 GMC K2500 that was a great tow rig.

monroe makes a set of coil-over sensatraks for it, or i have had great success with airbags on 2 rv's and 1 f250. bags r the way to go. took all the sway and roll out of them, and picked up the sag in the rear .

All I know is that the AirLift Air bags ride rite I think they are called are perfect for what your talking about. I bought some for my Tundra and My Burban and they are awesome. If I tow I dont need a Weight Distribution Hitch at all. I just put 45pds of air in the bags link up and I am perfectly level with great feel on the suspension. They are about 250 bucks for your truck.

that photo makes it look like your towing 2 cars side by side!

The load leveling on my 09 LTZ works quite well. Hitch up the boat and it runs the compressor, and the truck sits level.

only problem is the boat ramp. it must put a ton of weight on the back, and the vehicle reacts by lifting the back end (or because it's on a ramp)... making launching impossible without a drop hitch. it should have an 'off' switch.

I have the Airlift 1000s and those should work for your application (assuming you have coils in the rear). Sprayking, if you have the same brand they are only rated at 35 psi...
