I hope XM & Serius do merge, both have programming I like.

 

Because they are the only two digital providers currently in existence, I have serious reservations that the FCC is going to let it happen. Less competition is not a good thing.

But, if they do I hope they broadcast so all current receivers of both XM and Sirius will work.

 

i personally dont think the FTC (or even the FCC) will allow the merger.. and also, the tech that XM and Sirious use are totally different and are not compatible. XM uses AAC plus and Sirius uses PAC4 for their audio codecs. Both have their faults..but I'll take AAC plus over PAC4 anyday. The merger would allow a way around the "contract barriers" that exist. ie: Howard Stern and NBA on Siruis..but honestly, does XM have bandwidth for more music???
