Default nav and battery

ok i got the delphi nav upgrade for my 06 tahoe and a few things bother me. i hoping someone could help. ok so the nav makes a slight speaker pop sound if you start the truck when the splash screen is displayed on the nav, but if you hurry and start it b4 the screen comes up no pop??? second is it sounds allmost like theres a fan running on the back of the nave even when its off, is this normal?

and i see everyone has a prob with there factory batteries and im no exception with 3 trips to the dealer and 30,000 miles it dies constantly dealer says its fine every time????

also sorry its a 06 z71 tahoe

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. If the 06 version is like the 07+ nav, then the fan noise you are hearing is the map DVD spinning up so the system doesn't take as long to respond when you access it. Can't help with the speaker pop.

The way to help eliminate the drain is to remove the nav disc when you shut down.

If I remember correctly, there's also a hard drive that spins up that you can hear.
