Used google to search this forum and found exactly what I was looking for. Just FYI for others following this thread.

Start on Post# 124 down and it'll have pretty clear instructions and a nice picture.

sonnys007 I'm hoping the unit from PAC will make connecting the amp to the head unit a cinch (please elaborate if you know otherwise)
I did go ahead and install the nav and had it programed ($95) even though I don't have any other parts yet. I expect them to start arriving tomorrow. As expected the sound is super low. It has to be completely quiet for me to hear the door chime. I'll update you guys with my progress.

tasi let me know how things go with the VSS connection.

This site has nice diagrams of the harnesses and pinouts:

VanDamme: Great reference, thanks for the installz.com site. I've been wondering about the two extra plugs on the back of nav/dvd unit, now I know!

I'll keep you updated as soon as I get the VSS wire, I'll try to take pics and post them here, but it'll be at least a couple weeks before I can start.

73shark: Thanks for posting the thread, but that thread has over 300 posts in it, and I was asking for a specific post. Just trying to make it a little easier to find what we're looking for, but I do appreciate your pointer.

VanDammeJust want to let you know PAC inreface will do nothing fo you, unless you modify it.been there, done that. as far as amplifier, Sony makes one ( or used to make it ) 4 channel. works very well, small, very clean and powerfull enough. model # XM-4S. It was designed for trucks and SUV's.

GM Geek, what do you mean by modifing the PAC interface? Please explain what you mean. Also explain what you had to do to make your's work. Maybe you can explain what is wrong with mine. You are talking about a non-bose setup? Thanks.

Yes I am talking about Non Bose setupPAC module is designed to add an amplifier to something that its already there. You don't have nothing, so wires on PAC module will have to be cut and reconfigured. I have some of those somewhere. I'll find them and post picture for you

Ok, so I did the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) wire last night, and boy what a great difference it makes. The VSS wire is a must.

It took me about 5 minutes to run the wire, and another 10 minutes to cut and splice into the green/white wire in the panel. (and about 5 minutes to remove the nav unit, and another 5 to put it all back together). so total about 30 minutes. Pretty easy install, I took my time.

Now I get full turn by turn voice (much better than onstar).
