I called the number listed on the GM Navigation Disk website, 877-628-3472, and about 10 days later they sent me the 2011 version 6.0 100% free of charge.

The person I spoke to told me that every vehicle gets one free Navigation Disk upgrade.

The 2007s got two free upgrades and then GM dropped the free upgrade program. So if the person you spoke with is accurate, that's news.

That amount of money is ridiculous for just a map update. I've got a Droid X with google maps and I think that's the way to go since the maps are constantly being updated and it's all FREE!! They need to develop a way to integrate google maps, like on smart phones, into the factory navs; that or just find a way to connect your phone to it.

Default Upgraded my DVD Nag

I just applied the latest update 20940248 to my Navigation unit, not sure of the model. I upgraded from ver 1.10 15807780 (believe it or not) and it went very smoothly. Address book was gone but I knew that reading this forum. The upgrade took about 5 minutes. once completed, I noticed all the benefits stated here. Biggest was lane assist.

I noticed one thing after is that i always used to have an issue with GPS signal. This was not a big deal since I was still getting to my spot because of the it tracked my speed and direction. With the new update, I barely lose the GPS signal, I still do but far less than before.

The question I have, did the original problem of constantly loosing GPS signal was related to the Map DVD? using the wrong combination of DVD disc in unit? I read about Delco and Denso, how can I tell which on is it?

I bought the set from ebay in Jan 08

There should be some kind of ID on the unit itself. I thought Denso made all of them.

Just purchased a 2008 Tahoe Hybrid and came across this forum. Great resource!

I currently have GM p/n 15934919. I assume this is pretty outdated.

Will updating to the new current DVD for the Nav system upgrade anything other then just the streets? Will it upgrade the overall look of the Nav system, new features, or anything other then just more current streets?

And, add me to the list that thinks it's crazy they are charging $199 for an updated DVD!

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, great to have someone with the hybrid so we can get some input on how its holding up and what kind of issues that might arise...
the newer nav disk from what I have read in the forum does make some visual improvements and has a slightly faster response time for the backup camera...

Lets see some pictures of that HyHoe!

Welcome to the forum.

The new disc will erase your address book if it has a software upgrade.

So I click on the link from mechudocr for the 209.... two links come up, is one better or are they the same. Also they list as just over 4GB, do I still need to burn on a DL disc (don't have a burner) or can it go on a regular DVD? Also, to do it I just need to down load the BitTorrent program, download the link provided and burn to disc? Thanks for any help, new to this.. .like many others.
