Default Need Help 99 suburban rear fuel lines

Hi, I'm changing the fuel pump and tank on my suburban (gas 5.7L) The lines that connect the hard lines along the frame rail to the fuel pump are really bad (but only at the junction to the steel lines) Can I just cut these off an inch back, trim off the steel lines just forward of the junction and then reattach them to the steel supply and return lines using circular clamps? The steel lines are fine, the hoses seem fine, but the junction point is really rusty.

I gave up and ordered a rear half nylon replacement line set for $100, ... so the world, may never know.
