Default Need Help with the dreaded electrical gremlin

Thank you guys for letting me be a part of the forum, never been on this particular one since this is the first problem I have really had with my Suburban.

Here goes, I am trying to diagnose an electrical issue through facebook messenger for my wife who is a few thousand miles away and I will not be able to put my own hands on it until at least October so this could be a slow process and please be patient with me.

The other day my wife was driving and the radio suddenly died on her, never had an issue before that. The aux power plug and the usb also quite working (the heater/ac seem to be ok). With that none of the usually warning chimes are working either as the gas light came on while this started without making a sound (the turn single chimes aren't going either). So obviously started running the fuses, mainly 16 in the cabin and 43 in the main box trying to rule out a power supply issue. No fuse we pulled appeared damaged besides being old, replaced both of those to no avail at this point. The strange part is that while the radio and Ipod I have plugged in do nothing, if she goes to eject a CD the screen will tell her that there is no CD in the radio or if she presses the clock button she can still adjust the time.

I read a few recalls for similar problems on the 2007 models but did not see anything on the 2012's, I figure they would have fixed the issue by then.

If anyone can help point me in the next direction I would greatly appreciate it.

if the radio has power and grd...the radio is probably bad. remove the radio and check for power and grd at the radio connectors.

factory radios are expensive and require dealer programming. the radio provides the chime funcition for all the warning guages and signals. if you go aftermarket, you will need a chime module in addition to the radio.

call the dealer and price it out
my best guess is:
dealer
diag $140
factory radio $600
programming and installation $140

aftermarket
radio $150
chime module $100
wiring harness $20
dash kit $30
installation $100

Welcome to the forum.

Try disconnecting the battery for about a minute.
