Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Need help on which powertrain!

Hello everyone, new member here! Potentially looking at getting a suburban for my wife. I was just curious on what everyone’s thoughts were on the 5.3 vs the 6.2. I live here in SoCal so gas between regular and premium isn’t crazy difference (maybe $20 more a month with premium considering mpg and everything). I really like the 6.2 but the recall really concerns me. Are 2025+ models safe or should I just go with the 5.3? Thanks!

I live in Colorado and drive in the mountains frequently. I have a 2008 Z71 with 5.3 engine and 206,000 mile. I love it. I also have a 2023 Z71 with 6.2 engine that passed the recall. The 5.3 is very adequate, if you are doing a lot of road trips or tow, I would go with 6.2. If cost or gas mileage is an issue, go 5.3 and be happy, otherwise the 6.2 is a real pleasure to drive.
