Need help with a steering problem
My wifes Tahoe 4x4 is jerking to the left or right when turning at low speeds. I got her new tires and got an alignment and nothing worked so if you have any sugestions or info that would be great Thanks
Bosephus311, I had the same problem with my "99". (183,000 miles !!) It drove me crazy !! There is a sensor under the dash on the steering column. I can't remember the proper name for it, but mine was light gray in color and it raps around the steering column. Good Luck !! Dondobe
P.S. I found out it's called the EVO Sensor.

The sensor is the "Steering Wheel Position Sensor" also commonly referred to as the spool.
You will need to have this item replaced, it is a common problem in the 1997-2001 vehicles with Speed Sensitive Steering that utilize the Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) type power assist.
