Another option for exterior storage is a rack/box that fits in the hitch receiver. You can even get them with a cover.
Take some plastic bags for all of the trash that seems to accumulate. Of course don't forget basic car care things like towels so you can keep your ride looking sharp at your destination. If you haven't dropped your spare, you might try it in your driveway as it's not a walk in the park if the first time you do it is at nite near BFE with cars whizzing by. []
