New Burban Owner: Need some Maintenance Help/Suggestions
So I am a new Burban owner. I bought a 96 1500 LT and it was a great deal but needs some work. It has 157k on it and runs incredibly. However here are my issues/problems:
1. The transmission starts grinding/buzzing while moving and not on the gas then re-engages. Also has grinded/buzzed and not gone into Reverse a couple times. I am not sure what is causing this as I am a manual trans guy and the auto confuses the heck out of me. I am about to just buy a reman trans for $650ish and replace it. Best idea or take to trans shop and hope they can fix?
2. Putting into 4wd makes a HUGE thump noise but does go in. Not sure if related to trans.
3. Parking Brake light is on, handle is broken and only way to disengage is to reach under the dash and pull cable. Is light associated with handle at all? Not sure why this would happen and not sure if I need to replace the entire cable and/or the shoes/pads?
4. Windshield shattered. Any ideas where to get one cheap without insurance as I haven't registered it yet since I have to fix before getting inspected to pass and register
5. Radio is all kinds of fuzzy and have to tap it hard to get to turn on. How many speakers are there and any good replacement suggestions that may have a CD?
6. Heater core, I believe clogged due to steam coming out of vents and leaking coolant from the inlets and also smells of coolant in cabin. Figure easy to change due to being in passenger footwell.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to getting this up and running. I am about to gut it to clean and/or replace the seats, carpet and panels as it is VERY dirty. Any suggestions on places to buy?

I hope you got it for free...
Change the heater core...it's bad.
Radio can be swapped out for cheap...look for a Pioneer and expect to pay $50 and up.
Depending on where you live, windshields are easy to find in junk yards. When I lived in Utah, the new ones were cheaper than picking one from a used vehicle.
Check the fluid in both the tranny and t-case. If the fluids are good, then they need some serious help.
Brake light is connected to the parking brake circuit. Chances are, if you strap the pedal up all the way, the light will go out.
Good luck with your project...

Yeah I think that the trans is pretty much screwed. As for the others, sounds good and I think that I can come by the parts pretty cheap. I also love doing the work myself so fun to have another project that can be a fun family truck after some work and stuff. Thinking about gutting it inside too so I can clean it completely and/or replace stuff and possibly add a TV for my daughter too
