Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum as I just recently purchased a used 2008 Suburban LTZ 4x4 with 32K miles on it. I have put right at 1000 miles on it in the past week and absolutely love this vehicle. It has the Bridgestone Dueler Alenzas on it now but I do a fair amount of off road driving and would like to switch over to an all terrain tire. My question is can I go from the stock size of 275/55/20 to a 275/60/20 without any problems? That is only going 1" taller and the width would be the same. That would give me a little more sidewall which would be nice but I don't want to rub anything up front when turning at full lock or hitting bumps offroad. I also don't want to have to trim anything if I don't have to. Has anyone made this same change and what were your results.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Wouldn't the 60 series only be about 1/2" taller or 1" overall diameter? I doubt you'd have any serious problems like frame rub. Might rub the fender liner a little but a little massaging w/ a heat gun can fix that.

Not sure about your size question.
But I have read great things about the Cooper Zeon LTZ they come in both our stock size of 275/55/20 and the + size 275/60/20.

Check out this tire size calculator to get exact measurement comparisons...

There is plenty of clearance in the wells for that tire size, but you can run into more problems with speedo errors and you are adding unsprung weight, something a large SUV doesn't need more of. I would say stay with the stock size if possible. I upgraded to Pirelli Scorpion ATRs in the stock size and I'm very happy with them.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will stick with the stock size and order some Firestone Destination A/Ts. I had those on a truck a few years ago and they rode great on the highway and had really good grip off road.

See my reply at this post. https://chevroletforum.com/forum/tahoe-suburban-25/semi-technical-tire-question-37084/
And, I put a 2 1/2 inch lift/level kit on mine to keep from ripping up the bumpers in the field.
Good luck.

I put on Goodyear wrangler silent armor in the stock size.
I used my suburban in the harsh winter we had here in NYC this year and they did great. Never got stuck, no flats and no loss of air pressure.
These are good tires.
