Default New Suburban 2500 issues

Picked up a 2013 Burb 2500 about 3 weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to post up as we headed out on vacation with it 2 days after we got it.

Back story is that I was tired of dealing with constant repairs on my '15 Ram 3500 Mega Diesel that was broken again, so we sold it back to the local dealer and went on an urgent quest to find the nicest, lowest mile 2500 Burb we could find. A WEEK before our annual family camping vacation LOL.

Found a clean 13 Burb LT some 650 miles from home. Black/Black, all options incl DVD, Nav, skid plates, and 68K miles. Private individual owned, serviced and traded at a single dealer.

We Bought it over the phone and paid to have dealer deliver it to us. I knew I wanted a couple things changed before we towed our 7400# trailer, so I had parts ready when it arrived. Swapped on new E load rated BFGs, Bilstein 4600 shocks, towing pads, and ended up having to immediately replace the alternator and battery when we got the truck because the regulator was flakey. Selling dealer has promised reimbursement for this, which was nice.

Towed 1600 miles with it 2 days after we got it, and LOVE IT. The kids travel terrific in it because they have more space, and it handles our trailer just fine. It's in beautiful shape inside and out, with only minor frame rust on the very back of the frame from NY winters. We will clean it and undercoat the %#%#} out of it before this upcoming Michigan winter.

I scheduled an appt with local Chevy dealer when we got home, as I had intermittent CEL P0171 and P0174 while on our trip, lean bank 1 and 2, which we figured was probably a bad MAF (confirmed) and the passenger exhaust manifold rearmost stud was snapped off. Dealer fixed and we get it back tomorrow.

The only history I have on the vehicle, courtesy of local Chevy dealer pulling warranty history is:

31k replace wiper module
55k replace drivers side exhaust manifold (common issue)
60k fuel injector(s?) serviced (kinda odd, no detail)
68k replace wiper module (again, before they delivered to us) and we replaced alternator/battery
72k (now) doing MAF and passenger manifold.

Not a ton of work, and most is common GmT900 issues it sounds like, but a PITA that we've done as much as we've had in 3 weeks. My last GM vehicle was a 2005 Duramax that was a complete POS and I swore I'd never buy another GM product, but the allure of the full size SUV and space for everyone to spread out was attractive, and we love it.

Hoping that we've got the kinks worked out now and that we can put some trouble free miles on it now. Always nervous that I'm buying someone else's problem, but they don't make new 2500 Burbs, so used was the only way to go.

Love the truck. Upgraded lights are on the way, BlackBear tune by Christmas, I hope S&B Intake, Rear Timbren SAS and Hellwig sway bar are here and ready for install.

the 2500 series are a much better product that the 1500's.

The mileage won't be as good towing as your cummins but the maintenance of an older diesel is costly.

I hope so)

The Cummins was brand new, a '15 that we bought new and had in for 8-10 software updates, 3 oil leaks, 2 sets of upper ball joints (on the newer/better front end, mind you), 2 temp sensors, plus all normal maintenance (which ain't cheap, just the fuel filter change every 15k is $200+), all over the course of 33,000 easy miles.

Here's hoping the Burb treats us well.

My "08 2500 Burb is at 155k miles, and it's been flawless. Only thing I've done over the last 50k miles (besides fluid changes) has been to replace the purge valve solenoid, a $23 part, which I did myself.
