Default New Transmitter

Does anyone know how to program a new transmitter for the keyless entry? I had to buy a replacement one and trying to avoid paying the service department labor to do it.

Scroll thru your driver information center until yo get to program new key fob. Hold down check symbol button until you hear a beep from dash (cluster). When you hear the beep Hold down (press)lock and unlock together until you hear a confirmation beep from dash (cluster) after you hear confirmation beep hold (press) down the lock unlock buttons down togetherof the second remote. You need to program both remotes or it will delete any previously learned remotes from memory.

I have yet to see a tahoe that did not have the "driver information center". It is just to the right of the instument cluster, behind where your shift **** is while it is in park.
If there is no "driver information center" then you can get to it by pressing the button on instrument cluster. Pressing it a couple of times should get you to "Program Key Fobs". As long as it is a 2007 or 2008. Prior years are different.

In tahoe 2007 there are two option for DIC with buttons w/o buttons.

If there is no DIC buttons. This method can beuse to reprogram the transmitter

Relearn Remote Key

To access this display, the vehicle must be in PARK(P). This display allows you to match Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters to your vehicle. To match an RKE transmitter to your vehicle, do the following:
[ol]Press the trip odometer reset stem until RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays.
Press and hold the trip odometer reset stem for three seconds.
The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will display.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter at the same time for about 15seconds.
On vehicles with memory recall seats, the first transmitter learned will match driver1 and the second will match driver2.
A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
To match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step3.
Each vehicle can have a maximum of eight transmitters matched to it.
To exit the programming mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK. [/ol]
This may help.
