newby brake question
I can't seem to get the brakes on the rear of my 97' burb to activate. I can't seem to find any plugs in the lines, and no blown fuses or anything.
it seems like the proportioning valves are pretty commonly defective.
Any suggestions?

proportioning valve could be the issue
Have you bled the rear brakes to see if fluid is getting back there?
with the drum off lightly "LIGHTLY" press the brake peddle and see if the wheel cylinder moves the shoes... if you press too hard you can push out the cylinder piston and have a big mess and no rear brakes on your hands...
if you see movement you may just need to manually adjust the shoes outward
this adjustment normally happens when you set the parking brake but if you don't use it , it wont do the adjustment...

I did bleed the brakes. THere was nothing more than a trickle of fluid back there.
I don't think there is any brakes at all. With the front off the ground, and no parking brake it will move (I found this out after it started rolling down the driveway)
I'm going to go get the system flushed and see if there is anything else that comes up
