Newer model seats fit in my 2003 suburban? Please help!!
So I was wondering if a 2017 or newer second row seat would fit in my 2003 suburban. In my 2003 there is only anchor points for 2 car seats and I need 3. I seen the 2017 and newer have 3 anchor points but couldn’t find anything about compatibility or any already doing it. I have the third row in storage and don’t want to put it back in. I use the extra space to often and nor do I want to try and lift a kid over a seat and try to buckle in. Thanks for any advice or help.
I kind of doubt that the seat from a 2017 will fit a 2003, without you mounting new bolts to the floor of the vehicle. Lots of time for changes there. Each generation goes through changes, and you are best staying within the "GMT800" family for 2nd row seating - i.e. the 1999 to 2006 year range.
This video I found shows a guy swapping a 60/40 split bench second row seat with two captains chairs, with the split bench coming out of a 2001 (I think) and the captains chairs out of a 2003. The bolts sticking up out of the floor for the two seats you have now match the hole pattern to mount the bench he pulls out of the 2001 Suburban. So my thought is you are better looking for that split bench from a 1999 to 2006 Suburban or Yukon, as it will likely bolt right down to the existing mounts in your vehicle.
If you watch the video, at some point past halfway he shows the floor of both cars. They each have 4 bolts sticking up, and the 60/40 bench mounts onto the same bolt pattern as the two captains seats.
Good luck!
