OEM 20" wheels and 4x4 off roading
I think that I saw/read or heard that the Suburban/Tahoe with the OEM 20" wheel package isn't meant to take off road (i.e. 4 wheeling). Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.
It all depends on your tire size really, if you don't have enough side wall on your tire 4 wheelin is not a good idea with 20's. I wouldn't recommend doin it with anything smaller than a 36" or 37" tires on a 20" rim. Here's why, while off roading you need the side wall of the tire to give some in rough terrain, low profile tires are made for the highway and made for a no give situation. Also ith a low profile on a large rim like that you risk popping that tire off the bead, and damaging your rims because they are too close to objects.. not enough tire to protect them...
j28s, if u want 2 go 4 wheelin' why not purchase a set of 17's with some nice 35's or 37's like Tommygunz said-if your truck will handle that large of a tire. that way u play hard & not worry about hitting the rim on anything
