Oil Gauge ??
I checked the oil--it was fine and clean. I talked to a "car-guy" friend of ours this weekend. He has a 94 Chevy truck--he says the oil gauges are notorious for bouncing around. But I am suspicious of the gauges--the volt meter still goes down after a new battery and alternator check. I wonder if they share the same --well something[sm=dontgetit.gif]since I don't seem to understand electricity very well (can't understand why we can't just T-off an outlet here or there. DUH)
Anyway, thios bothers me as does my temp gauge on my 01 Town & Country. It used to ride about where 1/4 tank would be if it werea gas gauge--now it rides closer to 1/2 and I want to know why. DH thinks if it is not overheating it is OK but I want to know why the gauge says it is hotter tham it used to be--it seems hotter by the hood when I walk by too. HMMMM --maybe I should get cars w/ no gauges

If it is what I think it is then what he is referring to is commonly called a Power Capacitor (Cap). It's basically a skinny cylander which is hooked to the battery, and before the amp and is designed to take a power charge so when the subs hit, and the amp drawsa lot of current, the lights and power in the car itself don't dim. Instead the power cap takes the draw and the load to the car battery and altinator remain constant. They are very common on larger systems that draw a lot of current. When you see a loud car and the headlights or interior lights are dimming...those are the people who need these!

That could be the problem then if the ref. voltage is 9 instead of 12.
Never heard of a dry cell car battery. How does that work? Is it like a NiMH? Or something like that?
