oil pressure problems... poss gauge?
Hello. I have a 2003 chevy suburban 5.3. Recently my oil pressure gauge has been going crazy. Some times i turn on the truck and the gauge doesn't leave 0. Other times i start it and it reads way to high. I changed the oil pressure switch and i haven't had a zero reading since then but sometimes it reads to high and other times normal. Any one have any thoughts or had the same problems? Thanks.
This is a common problem with GM vehicles from 03 to 06. The stepper motor that are in all 6 of the gauge are defective. Any or all of the 6 will do the same thing at different times. There was a recall on some of the vehicles but not all. Check with your dealer to see if your truck was on the recall list. If it was not you can either fix it yourself if you can solder or remove the cluster and have it repaired. The last option is the most expensive, and that is to let a repair shop do it. The dealer will be about $600.00.
