OnStar Drive Safe & Save Ins Discount

OnStar what can you tell me about this program from State Farm
It says 12 months free with a double asterix telling me to visit OnStar.
Do I only need to sign up, or will it cost me out of pocket and maybe I will, maybe I won't get enough of an insurance discount to cover the cost after 6 or 12 months?

The State Farm Drive Safe & Save program is a short term promotion for existing or new State Farm customers with inactive OnStar subscriptions. Eligible customers will be able to get 1 year of free Directions and Connection package. This one year subscription is broken into two packages – 1st 6 months and the 2nd six months. The subscriber will receive the first 6 month package at the time of reactivation; the second 6 month package will be received within 45-60 days from when the subscriber contacts State Farm and enrolls into the State Farm Drive Safe & Save offer.
Simply press the OnStar button in your vehicle to speak with an activation specialist to get started. For the second half of the promotion, you should contact your State Farm agent, and they will enroll you in the Drive Safe and Save promotion.

As scary as you may want that to sound, you are giving up that same privacy the moment you connected your PC to the internet... every search and every site you have ever visited is logged....
Those same scary services are also the very services that help get you help in an emergency situation... should you be informed about what you are reveling, yes, should you be aware of the information you willingly provide, yes.

As scary as you may want that to sound, you are giving up that same privacy the moment you connected your PC to the internet... every search and every site you have ever visited is logged....
Those same scary services are also the very services that help get you help in an emergency situation... should you be informed about what you are reveling, yes, should you be aware of the information you willingly provide, yes.

If you use Gmail, every single email sent and received is scanned for key words.
Your cable company knows your viewing habits and the channels you spend the most time on..
If you own a credit card, all of your information is out there already in some electronic form for anyone to take
Browser cookies track every site you go to...
Your cell phone tracks your very location by cell towers..
You have, Gmail, you live in Florida, and are connected to the internet via T-Mobile...
OnStar is the least of my worries
Any form of connectivity can be misused, I have had OnStar and have never felt threatened or mistrustful of them...
I absolutely can appreciate your prudence for caution, but trying to tell someone that OnStar is spying on them is not realistic, there are so many other ways to spy and or collect information on someone....
If someone has something to hide or fear being caught at... then yes they should sweat it and only drive pre 90's vehicles.... for me, at most OnStar knows where I park my vehicle in Texas, that I spend a butt load of time sitting in traffic on MoPac, and that I like techno/electronic music if they were to actually listen in...
