I have the same thing in my hoe. Its the Dark metallic blue. The entire paint job is not like that, just in certain areas. Go look at some of the paint jobs on the lot and you will find that on all of them maybe not as bad but it will be there. I looked at over 50 hoes at diffrent dealers and every one of them had orange peel at one place or another. Good luck getting Chevy to re-paint it, aint gonna happen!!

You’re not going to get a new paint job. Nor do you really want you’re brand spanking new Tahoe repainted (trust me), but what it needs (and what you may get GM to do) is to have it buffed and polished out by a pro.

No not really, what causes this first off is that the new (more environmentally friendly) 2-part urethane paint systems are much tougher to apply then the old lacquer paint jobs, and secondly; the pressure that the paint is applied is reduced to lessen the amount of harmful overspray, this is what causes the orange peel effect.
The more paint that’s applied the more orange peel you get, it can be removed by simply buffing the paint out, but it must be done by someone that has it going on.

This is actually a funny subject because my cousin and I were just talking about this yesterday. He has a Nissan Titan and myself a 07 Tahoe, both trucks show orange peel when looking at the paint. My Silver-Birch Tahoe is not as noticeable as on darker colors, the Titan is Black.
If anyone has there orange peeled Tahoe buffed by pros, please report back with results.

The 26U Bermuda Blue paint has an extra process that involves first spraying on the base color and then applying the metal flake before clear coating, which is why the extra $395
But in bright sun at high noon the sparkle is spectacular.
Normal metallic paint is sprayed in one step and then clear coated.
On some colors it is less noticeable and then there are paint jobs where you just get lucky but all new cars suffer from this to one extent or the other.

The least expensive but most labor intensive way to color sand the surface in order to eliminate orange peel and/or dust nibs is by using Ultra-fine wet sandpaper. This material comes in 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit half sheet sandpaper, that is available in units of 10 sheets and full sleeves of 50 sheets. This method can take an entire day to sand a vehicle properly and should be used to address certain problem areas.
Unless you feel comfortable doing this you will pay 600 dollars to have a pro do it for you..
