Over tightened Intake manifold bolts

Default Over tightened Intake manifold bolts

I had to replace my intake manifold, because of a bad oil leak in the back right corner (about 1 quart a week). I had borrowed a friends torque wrench and set it on 35 ft lbs. I started with the #1 bolt kept tightening and tightening, but nothing ever happened. So i took a wrench and pulled on it and it clicked. So i continued to tightened, then i felt something was wrong. I started tightening the #2 then and #3, a little bit on #4. The rest #5-12 I never started tightening. The click noise was so quiet though. So I loosened #1,2,and 3. #4 wasn't really over tightened. I then started tightening #1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12. Waited for the really quiet click and then stopped.

The only bolts that really got over tightened was #1,and 2. #3 a sorta but not as much, and #4 just a bit. They are all at 35ft lbs now, but mainly 3 of them got over tightened, then loosened a bit and re-tightened.

Do you think I could have messed anything up?

you need to loosen all and tighten by sequence
