Two weeks ago in S/E Texas during the cold snap the check engine light came on with the P 0446 canister vent valve code.When it warmed up it went away.Now it is back on.Would that be the vent valve right behind the alternator or the one in back above the spare tire?Thanks for any help.

 

vent valve should will be on the charcoal cannister under the vehicle. the purge valve is on the engine.
make sure one wire at the vent solenoid connector has power with the key in run.

if you have power......the other wire is the grd control to close the v ent valve. with it connected to the solenoid...key in run....backprobe the ground wire with a tpin and ground the tpin to the frame or good ground...the solenoid should click...if not...replace the solenoid.
