Why the D3 over the Z1/Z2? Is the cost difference the big factor? I've heard the ipod interface is better on the D3 than the Z2 and the D3 has customizable illumination. But the HDD on the Z2 is a nice feature.

The HD is nice, but I have my iPod always hooked up so I've got my HD right there. I never take the nav DVD out so I have no need to spend the extra $1000 to get a HD built in. And the D3 has a far superior iPod interface. Done deal for me right there.

I didn't buy the over head dvd or the GM head rest units...way over priced. I bought 2 headrests off ebay, and 2 7" directed screens for a grand total of about $400. Now I just have to find the time to finish the install : /

I am having trouble turning off the lights on the pioneer avic d3. On the picture below it's the blue lights on the buttons on the left side of the stereo. I was told that the orange or orange/white cable is connected to a 12v source and that this is why the lights do not turn off. When I turn my truck off, and take the key out of the ignition the lights on the stereo remain on. I checked my stereo, but the orange/white cable is not even beeing used, it is not connected to anything. Is there a way I can connect this stereo so that the lights turn off when I push the off button on the touch screen? I want to still be able to use it when the truckis not running and I want to be able to use it without having to turn the ignition, this is how I have my setup right now, but it does not seem to work with this stereo. Well, actually, it does work, but like I said the lights do not turn off, they remain on, along with a picture on the screen that reads something like "system off".I know I can turn off the screen, but the buttons remain on, and I do not like that. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong????

Thanks

So you have the radio's accessory hooked up to the vehicle's 12v wire???? I didn't understand that in your last post. Fixing that will fix the light problem.
