Default Po1345 Trouble code

Has any one come across this problem in the 95-99 5.7 vortec 350s. I have just replaced the engine in my 99 4x4 4 door tahoe ls. It doesnt idle rite back fires every minute or so and i mean on the munite! The code comes up as Po1345 crank to cam sensor colation. Gm tech site says cam sensor misinstalled? Now I myself have been turning nuts and bolts all my life and anyone else that has replaced this sensor knows that it only goes in one way. How in the world is it misinstalled? Any help would be a life saver!!!!!!!!!!

the distributor is probably a tooth off. this will trigger the p1345 code. spec timing is 0 degrees + or - 2 degrees. if the distributor is off more than 2 degrees either way, this code will come up.

Understandable how ever distributor was never removed and when I replaced the cam sensor the distributor was in just the rite place to change the sensor with out any movement of the distributor. The motor was run in the tahoe it was pulled from with no problems. The code came on a week before my org. motor let go. I replaced the crank sensor and thats when my troubles started.

You did not remove the distributor when you replaced the engine? The only way for that code to set is for the distributor to be out. There is a slight bit of movement there. You must set it by looking at the data on a scanner. The spec needs to be 0 + or - 2. Much over 7 will turn the light on. If you can not get the spec around 0 the dis. is installed incorrectly.
