POS Folding mirrors

Yup, I got the dreaded folding mirrors on my LTZ...
Didn't even last 2 yrs before both failed. Just buzz, and the drivers side has the wobbles. Sure I tried to reset them, and all that. Nothing. What a load of CRAP Chevy used for these POS's. And boy are they pricey to replace, ahh yeah, with another set of cheap *** mirrors? I don't think so.
So, has anyone figured out how to open these crappy things up? Found a suitable repair/replacement? Anything?

Search the forum for DL3 and DL8 mirror and you will find an assortment of info...
