Default Possible to perform a center console delete? - 09 LT

Hi all,

I have an '09 LT Suburban. I am not a fan of the obtrusive center console and huge 'toilet looking' storage in the center. It makes for reaching the driver's seat belt latch a bit difficult and seems to be a waste of space.

My question is - Can I remove the entire center console permanently? I'd prefer to have nothing but space between the front seats. I haven't looked yet but wondering if there are many wires/accessories running under this console or can I just remove it and have smooth carpet and nothing else? I dont care about the rear radio or rear AC controls.

If anyone has taken one apart and has pics let me know! Much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Not sure what radio has but the sub is under the front part of the console. As to the carpet, I doubt that it is continuous under the console plus there are brackets that will leave holes when removed. Also I suspect removing the rear HVAC controls, seat heaters, radio controls, etc will probably cause untold problems w/ the BCM.

There is a liftout container for the center compartment that makes it much more useful for storage. Costs about $35.

thanks.

I was afraid of that. perhaps I'll switch to a different console or find better compartment/storage if I have to keep it.

thanks for the info!

I second the drop in organizer. It makes the giant hole much more manageable. I really don't know why it is not stock.

It is a GM Accessory. You can order it through your dealer or GMPartsDirect.com. It should be about $35

I agree with the others that it might be more than you want to tackle. I recently had both front seats and the center console out of my Sierra and there are quite a few sizable holes in the carpet under the console. The tray is a great addition to the console and its $26.95 over here http://www.genuinegm.com/ $8.95 shipping.

or

$26.95 over here http://www.gmpartsonline.net $8.00 shipping

Part number: 19166288

I purchased a set of steps and a bed mat from the first outfit and they shipped super fast.

I am actually looking to put one in my wifes car. Right now we just have the seat. Mine is a 07 tan interior. If you have decided to remove it I would be interested in taking it off your hands. Let me know my email is lillbush555@aol.com

Thanks
Matt
