Default Problem with Brakelights

Ok, i have a 99 Tahoe LS, The problem im having is the brakes light work, but dont come on until the pedal is almost to the floor. The brakes work fine, and as i said before, the lights work. I'm thinking its the brake light switch ( I hope thats what it is ) gimmie your thoughts and answers, and if it is the brake light switch, how hard is it to change? I would hate to tear apart half the dash to get to it, if there is an easy way to get to it,
Thanks in advance

Yes, the fuse is good, and so are the bulbs, the reverse lights work fine. My brakes lights come on, but only when the brake petal is almost to the floor ( so when i stop, the brakes work fine, but the brake lights dont come on, cause the petal doesnt go far enough to the floor, under normal braking. If im at a dead stop and push the petal all the way to the floor, the brake lights come on fine, Hence why i think its the brakelight switch) I think im right with it being the brakelight switch, just want to see if anybody else has had this problem? and I'm wondering how hard it if to get to the switch to replace it.
