I am new here and just starting my research on a 2010 Suburban. It is time to retire my 2002 Ford Excursion. Just have a few quick questions as I start to dig in.

How is the ride on the 1/2 ton compared to the 3/4 ton? If you had the choice of the 5.3 or 6.0 what would you go with?

I have a great deal to learn, so I am going to start reading.

We don't do much towing, mostly just hauling the family around and very long road trips. It is not uncommon for us to drive across country and the limited towing we do is a boat that only weighs 3000#

 

3/4 ton will be a little stiffer ride but you can haul more. as to the 5.3 or 6.0.i'd go with the 6.0..my dad has a 6.0 in his truck it doesnt get the best fuel mileage but it has plenty of power to haul. and i would think since its a heavy surb. you will want more TQ to get it going. it would take more gas from the 5.3 then the 6.0 to get it up to speed

 

The 3/4 ton will definitely ride rougher. Suggest test driving one before you pull the trigger.
