Default Question about Edge Evolution

I was checkin out the Edge Evolution and I thought I could just interchange between the 4 settings(transmission only, economy program, tow performance, extreme) whenever I wantedbut the manual says that in order to use the different settings, I have to use different octanes of fuel.

Transmission only - 85 octane
Economy - 87 octane
Tow Performance - 91 octane
Extreme - 91 octane

Is this 100%true or is this "recomended"? I don't want to always have to fill up on 91 octane in order to cycle through the 4 programs.

I have to run 93 on the number 4 setting. This of course will depend on your own vehicle.

#1-87
#2-87
#3-91/92
#4-93

As of lately I've had it parked at the number 4 setting for the last two months. My MPG is a whopping 13.9-14.2 driving however I want. Driving the same manner without the programmer my MPG is 12.6-12.9. Now to be fair the testing on the mpg without the programmer was done with less than 5000 miles on the odo. I think some of the numbers were effected by the overall break in of the engine. I suspect that if I were to retest without the programmer the MPG would be slightly higher.
