Radio Harness weirdness
Hi all,
My Suburban has been sitting these last 1 1/2 years 'cos i couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start which turned out to be a cracked and loose Reluctor. Some of you might remember my post from that time.
Anyway, now i have a stranger problem.
I decided to figure out why there are only front door speakers working. The very back ones were not connected and one was blown when it connected was but the mid door speakers would not come on. I double checked the wiring and i'm pretty sure was correct but the PO had cut the Factory Harness so there were unused wires there. Also the Fuse was blown for the Yellow wire (ign pwr).
I replaced the fuse, went to the boneyard and found a Harness from an identical year Suburban and spliced it in matching colour for colour.
Constant 12V+ Orange Switched 12V+Yellow
Ground Black
Left Front (+) Tan
Left Front (-) Gray
Right Front (+) Light Green
Right Front (-) Dark Green
Left Rear (+) Brown
Left Rear (-) Yellow
Right Rear (+) Dark Blue Right Rear (-) Light Blue
Purple white stripe = display signal?
Pink amplifier = relay signal?
Green /white stripe
Green
Gray = Instrument dimming?
I then got GM adapter from Crutchfield and spliced that onto my aftermarket Head Unit (Dual)
OK so now get this:
If i attach the Pink wire to ANY speaker wire, front or back, pos or neg, left or right, BOTH the door speakers will come on and sounds fine.
If anyone has any ideas i would be very grateful
cheers!
