Rainsense problem

Anyone have a problem with the rainsense wipers? When mine sense enough rain to go at high speed, they never slow down again. Even after the rain has all but stopped, they will still go at high speed unless I turn them off completely and then on again.
Dave, I am having a simmilar problem. Rainsense sensetivity is eratic with regards to frequency of wipes to amount of rain / drizzle. After a while in the Rainsense setting (on the stalk) it just goes into low speed and won't shut off regardless of the rain / drizzle amounts or lack of.Blue sky and sunshine but the wipers keep on going. Turning off ignition seems to reset control module and it's back to normal opperation.
I know your post on this is about 4 months old. Did you ever get your problem resolved?

I don't think so. What should happen when the rain stops? In this case the wipers don't. They have shifted out of the Rainsense mode and into the full on low speed mode. I canturn the **** to adjust the sensitivity with no effect on the wiping action.

This isn't a setting problem, is it? If you turn the sensitivity up the wipers work more often once rain is detected.

kramit, I was never able to get this taken care of, however, I do not need to turn my ignition to off to fix it. I was able to get mine to reset by just turning the wipers to off and then turning them back on again. Did you try doing this, or was turning the ignition off the only fix for you?

If you read my post you will see that I mention the wipers going in to high speed due to the amount of rain and then not slowing down again no matter how much the rain slows or stops. I understand that the rainsense wiper sensitivity can be raised or lowered, but that has nothing to do with the wipers continuing on high even when the rain stops.

Dave, Two weeks ago was the last time it happened. I was close to a Chevy dealer and pulled in to attempt to have someone in authority see what was happening. By the time the third service advisor looked at and fiddled with the on off switch, he'd gotten it to stop. Fortunetly they'd all seen it running nonstop inside a dry building and been unable to stop it. After some headscratching I was requested to comeback when it happens again so a real mechanic could come check it out. Meanwile they would look for a TSB that adresses this issue.
Based on the response today it doesen't appear to be a wide spread problem.
Have you noticed a decline in the performance / sensetivity of the system?
In the beginning this feature seemed to be a real convience but recently it swings from being super sensetive to where I wonder if it's working at all.

I had a 2002 TrailBlazer with the RainSense wipers and they worked just as expected, ie, the harder the rain, the faster they went and vice versa. My 07 Tahoe does not work that way at all. It takes a lot of rain to initiate a cycle no matter what the sensitivity setting is and then the wiper frequency doesn't seem to be proportional to the amount of rain. I assume that either GM changed the software or something is wrong.

kramit, mine don;t seem to be having as much trouble as yours. Either that or I just haven;t had the need to use them as much. I was able to get it to correct itself by turning them off then back on when it happened to me. It has happened to me probably 5 or so times. I haven't noticed a problem with the sensitivity or performance. They seem to work fine until they get into high speed due to heavy rain. After that they don't care how much rain there is, they just stay at high speed. I haven't had the chance to get the dealer to look at them cause I figurered if it wasn;t happening when I went then they would tell me they couldn't re-create the problem. I'm glad you were able to show them firsthand what was happening. Please let me know if they get back to you with any info.
