Default rear axle swap

I want to replace the rear axle on my 2002 burban. The current axle moans when my foot on the gas. It would be cheaper for me to replace the axle instead of replacing the pinion bearing. What should I look for when purchasing at the salvage yard? Also, between what years can or should I use? Thanks

If it's 4wd, you want one with the same gears you have now. They should have a book at the salvage yard that says what years will swap. Good idea to pop open the diff at the yard if you can..

Thanks. As soon as the weather warms; I'll pick up one and get started.
